This award, co-sponsored by York University Libraries and the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation, is offered to the undergraduate student and Research Fair participant submitting the best project for a first- or second-year course.
Criteria: Intriguing topic; clear, meaningfully written abstract which reflects the project well; uses plain language appropriate for a multidisciplinary audience; well-chosen sources; high grade and/or positive instructor comments; well-designed poster.

Dr. James Wu Prize for Best Honours Thesis Project / MRP (First prize $500. Second prize $250.)
This award, co-sponsored by York University Libraries and the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation, is offered to the undergraduate student and Research Fair participant submitting the best honours’ thesis project.
Criteria: Intriguing topic; clear, meaningfully written abstract which reflects the project well; uses plain language appropriate for a multidisciplinary audience; well-chosen sources; high grade and/or positive instructor comments; in-depth analysis; well-designed poster.
Library Information Literacy Award (First prize $600. Second prize $250.)
This award, sponsored by York University Libraries, honours Undergraduate Research Fair participants whose project (or creative work involving secondary research) best exemplifies excellent practices in library research and information literacy, evidence of critical thinking, and personal learning and growth. IL award recipients will demonstrate depth and breadth in their use and application of library and information sources, and a strong and clear ability to critically engage with information and its sources, including demonstrated success in identifying, searching, evaluating and synthesizing information sources for their submitted research papers and projects.

Best Poster Presentation (First prize $500. Second prize $250.)
This award, co-sponsored by York University Libraries and the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation, is offered to the student designing and animating the best poster session presented at the Undergraduate Research Fair.
Criteria:
Poster design and layout: legible; pleasing layout; includes images or labelled graphs which support the topic; creatively presented.
Poster content: catchy, meaningful title; clear research question; key points reflected; data supports conclusion; results are clear; use plain language; bibliography is available.
Presentation: presenter is succinct, clear, engaging, enthusiastic; effectively conveys project and results; uses plain language appropriate for a multidisciplinary audience; handles questions well.
Best Group Project (First prize $500. Second prize $250.)
This award, co-sponsored by York University Libraries and the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation, is offered to the undergraduate students and Research Fair participants submitting the best group project.
Criteria: Intriguing topic; clear, meaningfully written abstract which reflects the project well; uses plain language appropriate for a multidisciplinary audience; well-chosen sources; high grade and/or positive instructor comments; well-designed poster; evidence of collaboration and team-work.
People’s Choice Award (non-monetary honour) - NA in 2021
This award, co-sponsored by York University Libraries and the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation, is offered to the undergraduate student and Research Fair participant selected by attendees on Fair Day.
Art Walk Exhibit Award (Monetary award since 2020. First prize $500. Second prize $250.)
This award, co-sponsored by York University Libraries and the York University Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation—is offered to the undergraduate student and Art Walk participant submitting the best course-related art work.
Criteria: Aesthetically interesting; competent design & execution; engaging artist statement which reflects the project well; high assignment grade and/or positive instructor comments; suitable for reproduction on e-journal cover.
The winner of the Art Walk exhibit will also have a photograph of their art or design piece published on the cover of the York University e-journal associated with the Fair Revue YOUR Review.
